Kolkata: Sukanta Majumdar, the President of West Bengal's BJP, has strongly criticized the state government led by CM Mamata Banerjee, alleging that suspected agents of Pakistan's intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), are not only present in the state but also utilizing it as a hub for their anti-national activities. Speaking to ANI, Majumdar accused the Bengal government of having a pro-Pakistan stance, asserting that individuals associated with ISI are working against the nation's interests.

Majumdar's remarks followed reports of the arrest of a 36-year-old man in Kolkata, who is believed to be a spy for Pakistan. The agency stated that sensitive documents were confiscated from the alleged ISI operative. Reacting to the incident, the BJP leader claimed that ISI agents based in Pakistan receive support from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her administration. As of now, there has been no response from the ruling Trinamool Congress party. Earlier this year, a controversy arose when a Class 10 exam paper instructed students to mark 'Azad Kashmir' on India's map, sparking concerns over an attempt to foster an "anti-India mentality" among young minds. The term 'Azad Kashmir' is used to refer to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Prominent BJP figures, including Sukanta Majumdar and former national vice president Dilip Ghosh, shared images of the test paper on social media, criticizing the Mamata government for allegedly promoting sentiments against India. The test papers had been distributed by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE).
