The chief secretary Rajbala Verma's order to link Aadhaar to the ration card caused trouble. He said that he had raised the subject in 2017 as a minister. On March 27, 2017, the Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma had instructed the subordinate officials through video conferencing to cancel the ration card of those who do not have an Aadhaar card. On 29 March 2017, he also gave a written order to this effect to the departmental secretary. Due to this, ration cards were canceled on a large scale.
