Karnataka by-election results: BJP takes lead in both seats, JDS lagging

Bangalore: As per the initial trends from the counting of votes after the by-election to two Assembly seats in Karnataka, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates are leading the opposition Congress and JD (Secular) candidates. Election officials have given information on Tuesday.

It may be recalled that voting was held on November 3 for the by-election to the end of Tumkuru district and Rajrajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) seat in Bengaluru City and counting of votes began at 8 am on Tuesday morning. The results are expected to come up by noon. According to Karnataka chief electoral officer's office, BJP's Dr CM Rajesh Gowda is running ahead of the end seat with 8,919 votes while Congress candidate TB Jayachandra has got 7,577 votes. In this seat, JD (s) candidate Ammajammana B is third with 4,842 votes.

Even in the RR Nagar seat, BJP's N. Muniratna is running ahead with 22,845 votes while Kusuma H from Congress is second with 11,121 votes. In this seat also, JD (s) V. Krishnamurthy is third with only 728 votes.
