Sudip Roy Barman tore through the ranks of the saffron party just days after quitting the BJP and joined the Congress party. The BJP government in Tripura, according to Sudip Roy Barman, has failed to deliver on pledges made before to the 2018 Assembly elections.

Barman stated that the Congress party will go to any length to guarantee that the BJP receives a "big zero" in the Tripura Assembly elections in 2023. He claimed that the BJP-led govt in Tripura had "snatched away people's democratic rights." "The Congress party will leave no stone unturned in the 2023 Assembly elections to ensure that the BJP is defeated," stated Sudip Roy Barman.

Sudip Roy Barman joined the Congress in Delhi on February 7 after quitting the BJP and resigned as a Tripura MLA. The former Tripura health minister also said that under the BJP, the state's law-and-order situation deteriorated. Since the BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018, crimes such as abduction, dacoity, and riots have escalated.
