The Delhi BJP unit on Tuesday wrote to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) seeking the renaming of six roads in Lutyens' Delhi named after Mughal rulers like Akbar Road, and Humayun Road.
Delhi BJP unit president Adesh Gupta said that even after so many years of independence, even today, the names of some roads in Delhi show a glimpse of the symbol of slavery, so now the names of these roads should be changed as soon as possible. The letter says that it is a proud moment for all of us countrymen that today the entire country is celebrating the 400th Prakash Parv of the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The most important Khalsa Panth in the history of Sikhs was also founded by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. At the same time, he also sacrificed his four sons to protect the nation and religion.
To pay homage to such a great personality, we demand that the Tughlaq Road in New Delhi, which symbolizes the slavery of the Mughal period, be renamed after Sri Guru Gobind Singh Marg. At the same time, Akbar road should be renamed Maharana Pratap Marg to commemorate the 482nd birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, a brave warrior who faced the Mughals, the pride of Hindus and the Aan, Ban and Shaan of Mewar. This will inspire not only our youth but also the coming generations for a long time.
