New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a major step ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, expelling Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi from the National Executive Committee. It may be recalled that Varun Gandhi had been making statements against the BJP government at the Centre and in the state for some time now.

Varun Gandhi is currently a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. He has been an MP for three consecutive terms. Similarly, Varun Gandhi's mother Maneka Gandhi is also an MP from Sultanpur's parliamentary seat in UP. She has also been the first Minister at the Centre. At the same time, they are also involved in social service. After the party's decision, Varun is believed to have been making statements against the government for the past few days. Due to this, both have been removed from the Executive Committee.

However, the removal of Varun Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi from the 80-member executive ahead of the UP elections is shocking everyone. On the other hand, Jyotiraditya Scindia, who joined the BJP from the Congress, has been given a seat in the executive. The 80-member list also includes the names of PM Narendra Modi, senior leaders L K Advani, MM Joshi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
