Bemetara, Chhattisgarh: One person has been confirmed dead and six others injured following a devastating blast at an explosives manufacturing factory in Bemetara district on Saturday. The explosion rocked the unit situated near Pirda village in the Berla development block, according to officials from the district administration.

As soon as authorities were alerted, police and rescue teams rushed to the site to manage the situation. "While six injured persons from the blast were transferred to Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur for treatment, one individual was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival," stated the Public Relations Officer of the hospital. The injured are currently undergoing medical care.

Fire brigade teams and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel have been deployed to assist in the rescue efforts. The full extent of the damage and the number of casualties will become clearer after the debris at the site is cleared, which is expected to take 3-4 hours.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to local news channels reported that approximately 100 people were working at the explosives factory at the time of the blast. They expressed fears that several individuals could be trapped under the debris.

This incident comes in the wake of a recent tragedy in Thane district, Maharashtra, where a blast at a chemical factory claimed nine lives and left over 60 others injured.
