Saran: Gandaman village in Mashrakh block of Saran district of Bihar is still mourning. Nine years ago, 23 children died after eating a mid-day meal in the same village. Nine years ago, on July 16, 2013, the primary school was running in the community building of Gandaman village near Dharamasti Bazar in Mashrak block. Here, 23 innocent children died painfully after eating a mid-day meal. When the incident took place, people had hoped that the Chief Minister, Minister, leader or any officer would come to meet them, but no one came. Till last year, block-level government officials used to be involved in the anniversary, but this time on the ninth anniversary, no government official came.
In memory of the same children, a memorial site has been constructed in the village which had become dilapidated. This time the head of the panchayat got it repaired from his own fund. In Gandaman village, the houses of the children where they died, once again on the ninth anniversary, there is a course of mourning. As the memories of this heart-rending incident are refreshed, the eyes of every person in the village are moistening. Almost every child in every other house was taken aback by this incident. On the 9th anniversary of the incident on Saturday, everyone once again gathered at the children's memorial and offered flowers and garlands and paid homage to their children.
