Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Lalan Sheikh, one of the main accused in the Bogtui massacre and arson case in West Bengal's Birbhum district. Lalan Sheikh was an accomplice of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bhadu Sheikh, who was killed in the Bogtui incident. CBI officials nabbed him on Saturday night after receiving information from secret sources. Accused Lalan Sheikh will be produced before the Rampurhat sub-divisional court on Sunday and sought CBI custody, after which the court ordered six-day custody.

Finally, after several months, the CBI arrested Lalan Sheikh, who was one of the main accused in the Bogtui murder case. On March 21, around 8.30 pm, it was accused of killing Bhadu Sheikh, TMC vice-president of Barsal gram panchayat, by throwing a bomb. The massacre was carried out to take avenge. To avenge that incident, several houses in Bogtui village were set on fire that night. Seven bodies were recovered from the village the next day after the incident. Later, two more people lost their lives at Rampurhat Medical College and Hospital. The CBI filed a charge sheet in the case on June 21. Meanwhile, one of the accused, Lalan Sheikh, was on the run after the incident. Finally, CBI officials arrested him on Saturday night.

Earlier, several people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Anarul Sheikh, one of the perpetrators of this tragic murder, has already been caught. A few days ago, Lalan Sheikh's nephew Bulu Sheikh alias Dollar was also caught by the CBI. Finally, after a long wait, Lalan Sheikh also fell into the trap of the investigating agency.
