Boult and Jamieson Back in Action for New Zealand's ODI Series Against England

New Delhi: New Zealand Cricket announced on Wednesday that Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson have made their way back into the One-Day International squad for the series against England. This will be New Zealand's last series before the upcoming 50-over world championship, which will begin in India in early October 2023.

Boult played his final ODI in September of last year. He has appeared in 99 ODIs and has participated in the last two 50-over world cups, where New Zealand has advanced to the finals. 187 wickets have been taken by the left-armer at an average of 23.97.

The last time Jamieson played for his country, the Netherlands, in an ODI was in April of last year while he was still recovering from a back injury.

Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson have been re-inducted into the One-Day International squad for the series against England, according to New Zealand Cricket's announcement on Wednesday. Before the upcoming 50-over world championship, which will start in India in early October 2023, this will be New Zealand's final series.

In September of last year, Boult participated in his last ODI. He has played in the last two 50-over world cups, where New Zealand has advanced to the finals, and 99 ODI appearances. The left-armer has 187 wickets under his belt at an average of 23.97.

Jamieson last participated in an ODI for the Netherlands in April of last year, when he was still recovering from a back injury.

Speaking on the selection, head coach Gary Stead said, "England has been an impressive white ball side for quite some time and we're excited to be taking them on at home on the eve of the World Cup," he said. "We've obviously had a history of great games against them and I'm sure the four matches will provide all the usual drama and excitement.

Boult and Jamieson were glad to be back, and Stead announced that the world cup's final 15 would be announced in early September.

"We're delighted to include Kyle in this squad alongside his earlier selection for the T20 squads to play the UAE and England. He's been working extremely hard on his rehabilitation following back surgery and we're looking forward to seeing him back playing on the international stage.”

"It's also great to welcome Trent back into our ODI unit as he begins his preparation towards the World Cup in India."

The T20I squad for New Zealand's three-match series against UAE was expanded to include pacers Blair Tickner and Ben Lister. The matches are set to begin the following week. After Lockie Ferguson and Henry Shipley withdrew from the series, the decision was made.

Shipley underwent additional testing back in New Zealand after suffering a back injury while playing for Sussex in the UK. On the other hand, Ferguson has joined Welsh Fire to take part in the current season of The Hundred, which already has 10 players from New Zealand.

Before joining the national team in the UAE, Tim Southee, a member of the London Spirits, will play for the team in the final league game.

The first group of T20 squad players and support staff will depart from New Zealand for the UAE this Saturday, while Lister will arrive directly from the UK where he is currently playing club cricket. Meanwhile, Tickner will travel on Monday pending the birth of his first child.
