Health minister arrives in Muzaffarpur to take stock of the condition arise due to Encephalitis

Muzaffarpur: More than 100 children have died of  Encephalitis in the city so far. On Sunday, the SK Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur reached the Union Health Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Three innocent children died in front of Harsh Vardhan. These include Nisha and Munni, 5 years of age and another child. Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a compensation of four lakh rupees to the kin of children who died of  Encephalitis.

According to sources, Harsh Vardhan, who arrived in Bihar to deal with meningitis and take stock of the condition, was told by the SKMCH doctor about the children, Munni's mother started crying. Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey and Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey were also present during the visit. The death of three children sparked anger among the family members. The angry family took Choubey's hand and took the child out of the hospital. This triggered uproar there. The police used force on the family members to evacuate the minister.

At the same time, officials said, the disease is continuously increasing in 12 districts of the state including Muzaffarpur. So far 85 children have lost their lives in SKMCH. Most of them are under 10 years of age. Children are dying due to hypoglycemia and electrolyte imbalance.
