BEIJING: In pre-World Cup international friendlies on Friday, Brazil easily defeated Ghana 3-0 behind two goals from winger Richarlison. Argentina, another South American powerhouse, also triumphed 3-0 over Honduras.

In the ninth minute, Marquinhos' thunderous header from a corner kick by Raphinha gave Brazil the lead. Just before the half-hour mark, Richarlison increased the lead with a pinpoint shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom left corner.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward, who was assisted by Neymar, added the team's third goal just before halftime with a deft first-time header from a free kick to secure a convincing 3-0 victory, according to reports.

The five-time world champions have been building a 14-game unbeaten streak since losing the Copa America final last year. During that span, they have 11 wins, three ties, 33 goals for and only four goals against.

The Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring in another match between Argentina and Honduras with a right-footed effort from close range.

Lionel Messi, Argentina's captain, extended the advantage by converting a penalty just before halftime as his team dominated the game with an offensive effort. Messi scored his second goal by firing a shot from outside the box in the 69th minute.

At the Generali Arena in Vienna, Austria, Canada defeated the 2022 World Cup host nation Qatar 2-0. Mehdi Taremi's lone goal in the 79th minute helped Iran shock Uruguay 1-0; Morocco defeated Chile 2-0; and Saudi Arabia held Ecuador to a 0-0 draw in other games played that day.
