Naupada: Due to some issues with the brake shoe on Thursday, the AC coach's brake pads on the Puri-Durg Express caught fire near Khariar Road in the Nuapada area, a railway official said.

In a statement, the East Coast Railway stated that smoke was discovered in the train's B3 coach as it arrived at the Khariar Road station on Thursday night at 22:07 (which is 10:07 p.m.). The Alarm Chain Pulling did not result in the brakes being released. Due to friction and an incomplete brake release, the brake pads caught fire. In the coach, there is no fire. Only fire at the brake pads, warned East Coast Railway.

The officials added that there had been no reports of damage and that the train had left on Thursday night at 11:00.  "No additional damage. When the issue was fixed, the train left around 11:00 p.m., said the official.
