Jammu: Traffic Advisory- Closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway experienced a temporary closure to vehicular traffic on Saturday due to multiple shooting stones, according to officials.
The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic police reported that traffic came to a halt on NH-44 due to shooting stones at Mehad and the acute slippery condition of the road at Dalwas. They advise travelers to avoid undertaking any journeys without confirmation from TCUs (Traffic Control Units).

Efforts are underway to clear the affected areas and restore normal traffic flow.

Notably, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway holds immense significance as the lifeline of the Kashmir valley, serving as the primary road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country.

This vital highway witnesses the passage of Kashmir-bound trucks carrying essential supplies and other vehicles, while fruit-laden trucks from Kashmir make their way to various parts of the country through this very route.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, often referred to as NH-44, is a vital road link that connects the northern Indian cities of Jammu and Srinagar. Spanning approximately 270 kilometers through the picturesque landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir, this highway is not only a lifeline for the region's transportation but also a symbol of resilience and connectivity amidst the challenging terrain and geopolitical circumstances. The highway winds its way through the majestic Himalayan mountains, offering breathtaking views of lush valleys, snow-capped peaks, and pristine rivers.
