Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official reported that the National Highway-44 was obstructed due to shooting stones and mud slush on Wednesday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban took to Twitter to inform the public about the blockage of NH-44 in several areas caused by mud slush and shooting stones. He advised people to refrain from traveling until the road clearance work was completed.

"The occurrence of mud slush and shooting stones has resulted in the blockage of NH-44 at certain places. It is advised that people avoid traveling until the road clearance work is executed," tweeted the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban.

Earlier today, the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police provided information regarding the roadblock caused by the ongoing clearance work.

"At 8:00 AM, there is a blockage on NHW at various spots due to two mudslides and shooting stones. It is advised that people do not travel until the restoration work is completed," tweeted the J&K Traffic Police.

Furthermore, in a tweet posted at 7:30 AM, the J-K Traffic Police updated the public about the continued blockage on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. People were advised against traveling on NH-44 until the restoration work was finished.

Meanwhile, the clearance work is currently underway on National Highway-44 in Ramban District amidst rainfall, as stated by the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban.

On July 16, during the Amaranth Yatra pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, a 53-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by shooting stones. Two members of the Mountain Rescue Team of Jammu and Kashmir Police who attempted to rescue her were also seriously injured.

The deceased has been identified as Urmilaben (53), and the incident occurred between Sangam Top and Lower Cave while the woman devotee was trekking towards the holy cave known for its challenging terrain.

The police confirmed that Mohammed Salem and Mohammed Yaseen, two members of the Mountain Rescue Team of J-K Police, were injured while attempting to rescue the lady. Following the incident, the injured police personnel were evacuated by army and private helicopter, which were on Yatra duty, and were promptly taken to the hospital.

Officials reported that the Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh, expressed condolences for the death of the woman pilgrim and conveyed sympathy to her grieving family. The DGP praised the dedication of the two policemen involved in the rescue operation and extended gratitude to everyone involved in the swift evacuation. He wished for the early recovery of the injured Jawans.
