Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recovered more than one and a half lakh rupees in just one day from those who spit in the open. According to the new rule, those spitting in the open will have to pay one thousand rupees as fine. This decision has been taken in view of increasing cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra. To prevent the spread of infection, BMC has taken these legal measures as a precautionary measure.

Under this, strict action will be taken against those found spitting in public places in the city. BMC has expedited the process of collecting fines. It is noteworthy that corona infection is spread by sneezing, coughing, spitting in the open and coming in contact. The BMC has intensified the campaign since Wednesday. Under this, those spitting in the open are being caught and the amount of fine is being collected. BMC said, 'A fine of Rs 1,07,000 has been recovered from 107 people for spitting in the open. At the same time, 46 people have been warned.

In central Mumbai, most such people have been fined. Along with this, the BMC has also ordered the shopkeepers to keep the shops operational on Alternate Day. Now shops of different areas in Mumbai will be open at intervals of one day. The BMC has stepped up its campaign to reduce congestion and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
