London: Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also reiterated his commitment to the reconstruction of Britain, which is facing an economic crisis, in the Diwali message. He tweeted a picture of the Diwali celebrations held at 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British PM, saying that he will build a Britain where every child can light a lamp. Sunak is Britain's first black and Indian-origin PM.

Rishi Sunak tweeted on Thursday (October 27), "It was great to attend the Diwali program of 10 Downing Street tonight. While in this position, I will do everything to build a Britain where our children and grandchildren can light lamps and look forward to their future. Happy Diwali to all of you.'' Sunak, 42, has been very vocal about his Hindu roots, culture and faith. He took oath as an MP with his hand on Geeta. Despite being the Finance Minister of Britain, he celebrated Diwali in his official residence. In such a situation, Diwali was very special for him this year. He met King Charles III on Tuesday (October 25) and took over as the Prime Minister of Britain.
In his first speech after being elected the Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak talked about the ongoing economic crisis in the country and the Russia-Ukraine war. He has said that 'At this time our country is struggling with a deep economic crisis. The war in Ukraine has destabilised markets all over the world. Former PM Liz Truss strived to achieve the economic goals of this country. I praise them. However, there have been some mistakes during his tenure. Although these mistakes were not made with the wrong intention, mistakes are mistakes.'
PMÂ Sunak had also said, 'I will put economic stability and trust at the centre of this government's agenda. This would mean that the government is going to take tough decisions. Bringing my party and my country together is my top priority. That's the only way through which, we will face all challenges and create a better future for our children. I will work day and night with honesty and serve the people of Britain.'
