New Delhi: Since Diwali, there is a shortage of butter in many states of the country. Dairy companies are also running out of butter. It is being told that due to the increase in milk consumption during the Diwali festival, dairy companies could not produce butter on a large scale. On the other hand, due to the lumpy disease spread in animals, the production of milk has decreased, due to which the production of butter has been affected. People are not getting butter at the shops and due to this, the business of dairy companies is also being affected. Generally, the consumption of butter is low in the summer season, but its consumption increases in winter.

According to media reports, supermarkets, grocery stores and delivery apps in many states have indicated a decrease in the supply of 'Amul' brand butter. The shortage of butter is most visible in Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh has recorded a shortage of 35 to 50 per cent of butter. A Delhi-based vendor says that the supply of Amul brand butter has not been reaching the market for the last few weeks. Due to this, people are not able to get butter.

Confirming the shortage of butter, Amul Managing Director RS Sodhi told the media, "Such a situation may have arisen due to high demand during the Diwali festival.'' He said that the supply is now returning to normalcy. He said that at present, the production of butter in Amul is more than normal. However, it is taking time to fill the earlier shortage. In the coming 4-5 days, the supply and availability of Amul Butter in the market will be completely normal.
