Beijing: BYD has unveiled the Seagull, a small electric hatchback with a CNY 78,800 (roughly Rs. 9.37 lakh) price tag for the international market. We anticipate the automaker to launch the model soon in other nations after it currently only exists on the Chinese market.

The EV, which is based on BYD's e-Platform 3.0, has a market-first 30kWh sodium-ion battery pack.

Since its founding in 2003, BYD, also known as Build Your Dreams, has been at the forefront of electric mobility solutions. Additionally, the automaker supported by Warren Buffett is steadily growing its customer base in India, according to reviews and consumers.

The Seagull, an entry-level compact electric hatchback from the EV manufacturer, features a 30kWh sodium-ion battery pack, a first for the segment.

The BYD Seagull EV adheres to the company's modern design ethos in terms of appearance. A sculpted hood, angular projector LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a closed-off grille, a wide air dam, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, a "floating roof" design, and five-spoke alloy wheels are some of the exterior features of the electric hatchback. Connected LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a diffuser are all added to the EV's rear end.

The BYD Seagull EV measures 1,540mm in height, 1,715mm in width, 3,780mm in overall length, and 2,500mm in wheelbase. It fills the space between a subcompact car for first-time buyers and a small city roundabout.

The interior of the brand-new BYD Seagull EV has a roomy, minimalist cabin that seats five people. The EV comes equipped with a dual-tone dashboard, premium fabric seating, a wireless charging pad, two cupholders, automatic climate control, a flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel, a full-color 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features. Multiple airbags, ABS, and EBD all work to protect passengers.

A front-mounted electric motor with 74 horsepower and a battery pack connected to either a 38kWh blade-type LFP battery pack or a 30kWh sodium-ion battery pack power the BYD Seagull EV. While the latter claims a range of 405km, the former promises a range of up to 305km
