NEW DELHI: The strategic cooperation agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which will assist India in making the switch to green energy, received post facto approval from the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the Government of India, and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement, an official statement said. The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi was apprised of a Strategic Partnership Agreement.
The Agreement was signed in January 2022, as per statement. The Agreement aims to increase India's desire, ability to lead, and knowledge of green energy transitions based on renewable energy. It further mentioned that the strategic collaboration agreement had received approval from the Union Cabinet.
The Agreement will aid in the global fight against climate change as well as India's efforts to convert its energy system. The strategic partnership agreement's areas of cooperation will help India reach its ambitious goal of installing 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
