The Railways, along with increasing the lockdown for the third time due to Corona epidemic, made it clear that by May 17, all passenger services will be cancelled. However, migrant labourers, students, tourists, pilgrims and others stranded in other states will be transported to their home state through labour special trains. Freight and parcel trains will also continue to operate during this period.

Railway has appealed to the people after the permission to run special train amid lockdown. Railways said I request all of you to please make it clear to the public that these special trains are being run by the state government for the identified and registered people. Apart from these people, under no circumstances should other people come to the railway station in search of a train.

Railways further said We will not issue tickets to any person. We will not do this even on the request of any person or group. We will only allow passengers to catch trains, which will be brought to the railway stations by the State Government officials. The state government is the final authority who will decide who will travel on our trains.
