Spain's teenage player Carlos Alcarez defeated top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a match that lasted for 3 sets amid immense support from the spectators to advance to the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open tennis tournament. Alcaraz has won the quarter-finals 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 on the Rafael Nadal court. The 18-year-old is busy winning his third title.
Alcaraz also won the title in Rio de Janeiro in February and Miami earlier this month. Before losing to Alcaraz, Tsitsipas defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-4 in the year-hit tournament, while Alcaraz defeated compatriot Jome Munar 6-3, 6-3.
In the semi-finals, Alcaraz will face Australia's Alex de Minaur, who has defeated fourth seed Cameron Norrie 6-3, 5-7, 6-1. The second semi-final is between Pablo Carreno and Diego Schwartzman. Carreno defeated second seed Casper Rudd 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3 in a match that lasted three hours. Schwartzman defeated third seed Felix Auger-Aliasim 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
