The second tournament of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season, the Charity Cup title, has been won by world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway. Carlsen defeated Poland's Jan Duda in a thrilling final tiebreak match to win the tournament. The best of two matches between the two was inconclusive. On the first day, Carlsen defeated Duda 2.5-0.5 to take a 1-0 lead in the final, while on the second day, Duda came back from 2.5-1.5 to make the score 1-1, in such a way that the tiebreak match was played between the two.

In the first tiebreak match, Carlsen won the match in 52 moves in the Ketlan opening with white pieces and went ahead 1-0, while playing with black pieces in the second match, Carlsen won the match in just 24 moves in the Caro Cannes opening and won the tiebreak 2-0.   

According to the news, the players of this competition had already announced to dedicate all their male money to the victims of the war in Ukraine and thus about 150,000 US dollars have been donated from this tournament among a total of 16 players.
