Scam worth crores in Indian Navy, CBI raids 30 bases in four states

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided around 30 locations in four states of Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka after the scam case was exposed through fake bill in Indian Navy. Actually, the Western Naval Command is accused of scam of Rs 6.76 crore by making a fake bill for the supply of IT hardware.

It is alleged that Captain Atul Kulkarni, Commander Mandar Godbole and RP Sharma and Petty Officer LOG (F&A) Kuldeep Singh Baghel allegedly made seven fake bills worth Rs 6.76 crore. During the raid, the police has recovered Rs 10 lakh cash. Along with this, some important documents are also handed over to the police. This whole matter is related to payment of contingency expenditure bill for the supply of IT hardware in the Western Naval Command. This whole matter was revealed in the internal investigation of the Ministry of Defense. After this, the Ministry of Defense informed the CBI on 23 October 2019. After getting the approval of the Ministry of Defense, the CBI registered a case.

Sources in CBI say that this scam could be bigger than 6.76 crores. The investigation of the case has been started and payment of old bills can also be investigated. Currently, information is being collected from Navy officers and companies on behalf of the CBI.
