Kolkata: A CBI team probing the violence in West Bengal's Birbhum district reached the hospital on Sunday. On reaching the hospital, the CBI team recorded the statements of those injured in the Birbhum violence. It also questioned Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anarul Hussain and other accused arrested in the Birbhum violence case.

On the one hand, the CBI team recorded the statements of those injured in the Birbhum violence, on the other hand, the officials of the CBI's forensic science laboratory also visited the burnt houses and collected samples. The Calcutta High Court had handed over the probe into the Birbhum murder case to the CBI and directed it to submit a report by April 7. On March 21, unidentified people had set fire to some houses in Rampur Haat and killed eight people.

In this case, the local police had registered a case and claimed to have arrested 10 people. After this, the High Court took cognizance of the matter and ordered the CBI to investigate it. After which the CBI team reached Birbhum on March 25 and collected samples from the spot. The CBI has named 21 people as accused in the case. Earlier, the SIT constituted by the state government was conducting the investigation.
