Patna: On January 20th, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a summons to Arun Yadav, a close aide of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, in connection with an illegal sand mining case. Arun Yadav, a former MLA and a key figure in Lalu Prasad Yadav's political circle, was not present at his ancestral house in the village of Agiaon in Bhojpur district when the CBI team arrived. The summons was handed over to his wife, RJD MLA Kiran Devi.

Arun Yadav faced controversy in the past, as he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor and was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. However, he was later acquitted due to a lack of evidence. Despite being denied a ticket in the last elections, Yadav remains a significant figure in Bihar politics.

The CBI is investigating Arun Yadav's alleged involvement in an illegal sand mining operation spanning from Ara to Patna districts in Bihar. The agency reportedly has evidence linking Yadav to the illegal sand mining case, and his name had previously surfaced during the CBI's action against MLC Radha Charan Seth.

In a parallel development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued fresh summons to Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, in connection with the land-for-jobs scam. The ED has asked Lalu Yadav to appear for questioning on January 29, while Tejashwi has been summoned for the following day, January 30.

Both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav had previously skipped summons issued by the ED. In October of the previous year, a trial court granted bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Lalu's wife, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, in the CBI case related to the same scam.

The legal troubles involving illegal sand mining and the land-for-jobs scam continue to pose challenges for Lalu Prasad Yadav and his associates, impacting their political standing in Bihar.
