New Delhi: Former Congress head Rahul Gandhi dubbed the national level body of education the "Central Board of Suppressing Education" on Monday, a few days after the CBSE withdrew several chapters from the history and political science curriculum for classes X and XII.

Gahdhi also called the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) the "Rashtriya Shiksha Shredder" because of the curriculum revision. "Rashtriya Shiksha Shredder," tweeted Rahul Gandhi today, along with an image of a shredding machine shredding topics like democracy and diversity, the impact of globalisation on agriculture, the non-aligned movement, the Mugal court, the industrial revolution, and Faiz' poem, as well as issues like employment, communal harmony, and institutional freedom.

The Congress MP made the remark after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) removed chapters from the History and Political Science syllabus for classes 11 and 12 that dealt with the rise of Islamic empires in Afro-Asian territories, chronicles of Mughal courts, the Cold War, and the industrial revolution.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, has previously spoken out against the RSS in a similar manner. He took to Twitter on April 16 to accuse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of inciting hatred in India. On Twitter, Rahul Gandhi stated, "Every Indian is paying the price for the hate fostered by the BJP-RSS." He also posted an article by Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, in which she criticised the BJP-led central government of "the increasing chorus of hatred, the unmasked encouragement of aggression," and "crimes against minorities."
