New Delhi: Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri asked the builders to try to sell unsold houses quickly. It said that in view of promoting the sale of houses, it would once again write a letter to the state governments to reduce the stamp duty on registration of property. Addressing a digital seminar organized by NAREDCO, a consortium of realty companies, Hardeep Puri said that the circle rate should be reduced.

The Union Minister said, "I think the time has come to remove the unsold houses, do not sit down." Hardeep Puri said that doing so would accelerate financial activity and benefit developers. He said that the Finance Ministry has recently given concession in the Income Tax Rules. The difference between circle rate and transaction rates has increased to 20%. Talking about the reduction in the circle rate, Hardeep said that this difference of 20% would intensify economic activity. All of you should step up now. Get rid of dwellings that were no longer sold.

Regarding stamp duty, Puri said that he has written a letter to the Chief Ministers on this issue. He said that Maharashtra and Karnataka governments have reduced the stamp duty. Preliminary estimates suggest that this step is producing good results.
