New Delhi: Japanese auto giant Nissan is gearing up to launch five new models in the next 30 months as part of its efforts to revitalize its presence in the rapidly growing Indian car market. Currently offering just one model in India, Nissan aims to introduce two mid-size SUVs (one five-seater and one seven-seater), an electric SUV, and an updated version of its compact SUV, the Magnite.

Additionally, Nissan has unveiled the latest version of its premium SUV, the X-Trail, which will be imported into India as a completely built-up (CBU) model.

"India is a crucial market for us, and we are preparing a product offensive over the next two and a half years, from FY24 to FY26," said Frank Torres, President of Nissan India, during a media interaction. He emphasized the company's goal to triple its sales volume in both domestic and export markets by FY26.

"In the next two and a half years, we aim to triple our volume in both domestic and export markets," Torres stated. Nissan plans to increase domestic and export volumes to 100,000 units each per year by the end of FY26.

Torres highlighted that the new product range will feature advanced technology and offer significant value to customers.

Last year, Nissan Motor Co. and Renault SA announced substantial investments in six new models for India. Torres mentioned that Nissan is also considering introducing global models to the Indian market after FY26.

He acknowledged that it has taken the company some time to finalize its strategy for the Indian market. According to SIAM data, Nissan Motor India exported 12,809 units in the April-June quarter of this fiscal year, more than doubling the 5,928 units exported in the same period last year.
