Kolkata: Former Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, who did not attend PM Modi's review meeting, is in turmoil. The Central Government is likely to take the next step soon after former Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay responded. According to official sources, the Central Government received Bandyopadhyay's reply last night and is under investigation.

People aware of the matter said that the Central Government is considering further action. According to media reports, the Centre has received a response from Alapan Bandyopadhyay and is being investigated on a show cause notice issued to him under the Disaster Management Act to prevent Alapan from PM Narendra Modi's meeting last month. Further action will be decided soon.

In fact, former Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Badyopadhyay had responded to the Central government's notice on Thursday saying he had gone to visit the cyclone affected areas at mamata banerjee's behest. He was asked to explain his absence from a review meeting on cyclone with PM Modi on May 28 in a notice issued under the Disaster Management Act. The West Bengal government also sent its reply in the matter to the Union Home Ministry on Thursday, the last day for sending a reply.
