New Delhi: Responding to a plea seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Nizamuddin Markaz case in the national capital Delhi, the central government has said that a CBI probe is not required in the case. In the affidavit filed in the apex court, the government has said that the police investigation is in advanced stage and is investigating as per Delhi law.

The government's affidavit states that Maulana Saad, the head of Tablighi Jamaat, and the people of the Jamaat deliberately disregarded all instructions. The government's affidavit states that on March 21, the Delhi Police had asked Maulana Saad, the chief of Tabligi Jamaat, to send back those deposited in Markaz. But this instruction of the police was not followed. It has been revealed in the investigation that even after the instructions of the police, Maulana Saad is asking people to stay there and join Markaz.

On the basis of police investigation in the affidavit it is stated that along with the announcement of the lockdown, the central government and Delhi government also issued instructions on many issues like social distancing, but the people of Tablighi Jamaat deliberately disregarded all the instructions. In such a situation, it cannot be said that there was any negligence on the part of the police and administration in the Tablighi Markaz case.
