New Delhi: The government is confused about Air India, a state-made airline company. Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Saturday that Air India will now be completely disinvested or shut down. Hardeep Singh Puri said that financial bids will be invited for disinvestment of Air India soon.

Puri said that there are now only two options before the government - either to privatize Air India or to shut it down. The state-made airline company has been facing an economic crisis for quite some time. The government is gearing up to sell its entire 100% stake in Air India. In a statement, Hardeep Singh Puri said, "We have decided that 100% of Air India will be disinvested.''

He further said that there is no choice between disinvestment and non-disinvestment. Although Air India is now making money, we are now losing Rs 20 crore a day. The company has so far been owed a debt of Rs 60,000 crores. Air India has been at a loss since its merger with Indian Airlines in 2007.
