After the lockdown 2 imposed by PM Modi, the toll on national highways will start from April 20. The central government has allowed the National Highways Authority of India to start collecting toll on national highways from April 20.

It was planned to start the toll recovery work from April 15, a day after the end of the first phase of lockdown. However, later the lockdown by the Center was extended till 3 May. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Home Affairs has given an exemption to restart many essential industries from 20 April.
Government approved the export of medicines amidst lockdown
In a letter written to the National Highways Authority of India regarding this matter, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that it has further been told that collection of toll duty contributes to the government exchequer and also provides financial strength to NHAI for budgetary support. NHAI should take necessary action to comply with the orders in view of the relaxation provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs for movement of all trucks and other goods or carrier vehicles to interstate and outlying states. In view of this, the toll collection will be resumed from April 20, 2020.
