London: Indian-origin scientist and Nobel Laureate Professor Venky Ramakrishnan has been appointed chairman of a committee of high-level experts in the UK to analyze the data received from across the world to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

Professor Ramakrishnan is also the head of 'The Royal Society', the world's oldest independent scientific academy. The Royal Society said on Friday that the new technology of data analysis would accelerate the ability to deal with the corona epidemic in Britain. Ramakrishnan was born in Tamil Nadu, India. He is 67 years old. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2009 along with two other scientists.

The Royal Society has stated that a group called 'Data Evaluation and Learning for Viral Epidemics' (DELVI) has been established. Due to which the measures taken to fight the epidemic in different countries will be analyzed. By analyzing national and international data by DELVI, the steps and strategies taken for the prevention of coronavirus will be studied to deal with the public health, social and economic aspects.
