Between the lockdown and the Corona crisis, the government lifted the ban on the export of paracetamol-containing drugs. During this period, Paracetamol Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) i.e. the export of paracetamol used as a raw material will remain banned. Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) gave this information in a notification on Friday. Exporters are required to obtain a license from DGFT for export of goods falling under the category of Restricted.

The government had banned the export of 26 APIs and medicines, including paracetamol, on March 3, due to the spreading infection of Corona and the need for medicines in the country. On April 6, in addition to paracetamol, the ban on export of 24 APIs and medicines was lifted. Now the export ban on paracetamol-containing drugs has also been lifted. India exported $ 5.41 billion worth of drugs made from paracetamol during April 2019 to January 2020.
