New Delhi: Questions are constantly being raised from the opposition and the Supreme Court over the vaccination policy. Now, disturbed by all these questions, the Central Government has defended it. In fact, recently, the Central Government has termed the reports of disparities in vaccination as baseless. Not only this, the Centre has also upheld the distribution of vaccines in the private and public sector under its liberal immunization policy and said that the vaccine policy, which came into effect from May 1, reduces the burden on vaccination centres run by the State Governments. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan recently tweeted.

In a tweet, he termed the reports of disparity in vaccine sharing as baseless. In his tweet, he wrote, "1 vaccine to private hospitals in the month of May. 2 crore doses were given in a transparent manner. This helped in increasing the capacity of the world's largest vaccination campaign." At the same time, he also issued a statement of the government. Let me tell all of you that the Central Government has separated the distribution of 25 per cent vaccines to the private sector under the immunization policy.

According to this statement, "Separating 25% vaccines for private sectors provides better access to vaccines to people and also reduces the operational burden at government vaccination centres. The scheme is for people who can pay the price of vaccine and those who prefer to go to private hospitals and get vaccinated."

From 1st May, the Central Government had also approved vaccination of people in the age group of 18 to 44 years in the country. But many states closed immunization centres opened for this age group claiming vaccine shortage. Amidst all this, it is also being said that only a few big hospitals are able to buy vaccines allocated to the private sector. However, the government says small town hospitals are also buying vaccines and covishields.
