NEW DELHI: The Central government on Friday said that there is adequate availability of fertilizers in India to meet the needs of farmers during the Rabi season.

 

The Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers said in a statement on Friday that the government is sending fertilisers to all states as needed, and it is the responsibility of the respective state governments to ensure availability within the states through proper intra-district and inter-district distribution.

The estimated demand for urea across all of India in Rabi 2022–23 is 180.18 LMT. The Department of Fertilizer (DoF) has guaranteed an availability of 92.54 LMT in relation to the pro rata need up to November 16 of 57.40 LMT. Urea has been sold for 38.43 LMT throughout this time. A closing stock of 54.11 LMT is also present with the states. To meet the demand for urea, there is also a supply of 1.05 LMT at the urea plants and 5.03 LMT at the ports.

Similarly, 55.38 LMT of DAP fertiliser is anticipated to be needed throughout all of India in Rabi 2022–2023. The DoF has guaranteed an availability of 36.90 LMT in relation to the pro rata demand up to November 16 of 26.98 LMT. DAP sales for this time frame were 24.57 LMT. Also, the states have 12.33 LMT of closing stock. To meet DAP's demand, there is also a stock of 4.51 LMT at the ports and 0.51 LMT at the DAP plants.

Also, 14.35 LMT is the expected requirement for MOP over all of India in Rabi 2022–2023. Pro rata demand up to November 16, 2022, is 5.28 LMT, and DoF has guaranteed an availability of 8.04 LMT.

In the case of NPKS, a 56.97 LMT demand for this fertiliser throughout all of India is anticipated for Rabi 2022–2023. The DoF has guaranteed that there will be 40.76 LMT available to meet the pro rata need through November 16, 2022, which is 20.12 LMT.
