The search for life continues after the deluge in Uttarakhand. The bodies of many people have been recovered, but the search for many 'missing' people is still going on. Two corpses have been recovered from the Tapovan tunnel on Monday. A joint rescue and search operation of various agencies, including the army, has been going on in the tunnel to take out 25-35 people trapped for more than a week.

Police has said that nine corpses have been removed so far from the Tapovan tunnel filled with debris and silt. Six bodies were recovered from the tunnel on Sunday. People were working in this tunnel of the 520 MW Tapovan-Vishnugad Hydroelectric Project of NTPC during the February 7 flood in the Rishiganga Valley. In addition to the heavy damage to the under-construction Tapovan-Vishnugad project, the 13.2 MW Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project located at Raini was also completely destroyed by the flood.

So far, a total of 58 bodies have been removed from the disaster-hit areas of Chamoli district, while 150 others are still missing. Chamoli District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria, who is constantly getting information about the search and rescue operation, has asked the rescue teams to work in the same manner on the recovery of the bodies of the missing people. It has been learned that one of the two bodies found in the tunnel has been identified. The deceased's name is Anil and he was a resident of Kalsi Dehradun.
