ISRO says 'Chandrayan 2' reached more closer to moon closer

Bengaluru: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has reported that India's ambitious lunar mission 'Chandrayaan 2' has been carried forward in its orbit for the second time around the earth, making it closer to the moon. This was done through a direction from the earth. ISRO said in a statement that Chandrayaan entered its second orbit as it marched into orbit of the earth's gravitational influence zone at around 1.08 pm on Thursday.

For this the propulsion system in the space craft is used which took 15 minutes. According to ISRO officials, earth's gravitational orbit (Earth Bound Orbit) is a phase during which the vehicle will remain in the earth's aura. ISRO said that all the activities of the spacecraft are in normal condition. Taking a major leap forward in the country's ambitious extremely low-cost space programme, ISRO successfully installed Chandrayaan 2 into Earth's orbit through its powerful GSLV-MKIII-M1 from Sriharikota Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh on July 22.

It will enter the orbit of the moon from the Earth-dominated region on August 14. As soon as the it enters its orbit, it will orbit the moon. According to ISRO, the lander 'Vikram' will be separated from the craft after 13 days of orbiting the moon-influenced area and will land at the south pole of the moon on September 7 after orbiting. However, no country has reached so far. If the mission is successful, India will become the fourth country to land on the moon's surface after Russia, the US and China.
