In the Badhar village of Narharpur development block of Kanker district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, on Saturday morning people saw a Gour Baison grazing in the field. Gour Baison is the state animal of Chhattisgarh which is on the verge of extinction. The bison of this rare species was considered by many as forest buffalo. Crowds of villagers gathered there to see the bison.

People had never seen such a large size of cattle nearby. The staff of the forest department has also been informed about this. Officer-employees of the forest department have reached the spot. Efforts are being made to send the bison back to a safe place in the Sitanadi Forest Sanctuary area.

Local people told about this incident that Gour Baison people have seen in different villages of the district for some time. Many people say that it is Vanbhansa, but the pictures that have come out are of Gour Baison. A few days ago, people in the Charama area saw a similar size of cattle. Gaur is a large-sized bovine animal found in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Today, its largest population is found in the Bastar area in India, but here too, their number is left to count. There were originally 6 species of Gaur, out of which only two species are left now, which include Gour Baison and forest buffalo.
