According to the information received, expressing concern over the increasing level of pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Supreme Court said, "We are worried about the future." The court asked the Delhi Municipal Corporations and other agencies to buy BS6 standard diesel vehicles to reduce pollution. Permission was sought for registration of two thousand cc or more capacity diesel vehicles used for waste management. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for EDMC, told the bench that the vehicles are available in diesel version for the kind of vehicles the corporation needs for solid waste management work. The capacity required in vehicles can be obtained from diesel fuel only. On this, the bench said, we are worried not for today but for the future. In the future, you will have to buy vehicles conforming to the BS6 standard. When they start to be used, the pollution caused by diesel vehicles will also decrease. The next hearing of the case will be held on 16 March.
