Chennai: A tragic road accident has been reported in Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai. Here, a speeding car trampled 9 workers painting the median line of the road. 2 women labourers have died in the accident. While 7 people, including a 10-year-old, are said to be badly injured.

The incident took place at Thathankuppam near Villivakkam in Chennai. Here on 200 feet road, a group of workers was doing painting work. Meanwhile, at around 3 am, a speeding car lost control and hit a mini-truck parked on the road with paint and brushes. The labourers painting on the road were then hit by this speeding car. Sasikala, 25, and Kamakshi, 27, lost their lives in the tragic accident.

The injured people are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The car driver has been identified as Sujeet. Sujeet is said to be 19 years old. He was going to Mamallapuram with his friend. Sujeeth is undergoing treatment. However, based on medical reports, police have ruled out the possibility of Sujeet driving under the influence of alcohol. However, police have started investigating the case by sending Sujeet to jail.
