The Samajwadi Party staged a sit-in in the Vidhan Bhavan campus during the one-day special session of the Legislature on Constitution Day. Before the proceedings of the House started, the SP members put red caps and gathered at the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh and staged anti-government slogans. SP leaders, holding placards written against anti-government slogans, also symbolically protested against the oppression of farmers in paddy procurement. Paddy sack, electricity bill and sugarcane were brought along. Even before the commencement of the Governor's address, the SP members reached the House and heard the speech in peace.
