Political drama is constantly going on in the state of Maharashtra in the midst of political anxiety. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be the next chief minister of Maharashtra after the resignation of Chief Minister Devendra Fandavis and deputy CM Ajit Pawar within 72 hours. Uddhav Thackeray's name was announced at the Shiv Sena-Congress and NCP meeting. Uddhav Thackeray will take the oath of Chief Minister on Thursday 28 November. After the announcement of becoming the CM of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray said that 'I never even dreamed that I would run the state. I thank others including Sonia Gandhi for this. Uddhav said that there are many thorns on the Chief Minister's throne. Taking a dig at Devendra Fadnavis, he said that he says that we bowed down, but we did not bow down but came together. He said that we will once again make this Maharashtra what Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj once dreamed of.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance formed by the Shiv Sena Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress elected Uddhav Thackeray as the leader of the Legislative Party. After being elected as the leader of the legislative party, Uddhav Thackeray went directly to his residence Matoshree to pay homage to his father and Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.

Earlier, after being elected the leader of the Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance at Trident Hotel in Mumbai, Uddhav took Sharad Pawar's blessing by touching his feet there. It also said that he will go to Delhi to meet his elder brother (Prime Minister Narendra Modi). After this, MLAs and leaders of 'Maha Vikas Agadi' handed over a letter to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and declared Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray as their leader.
