Raipur: In the hilly regions of Surguja and Balrampur, chili has been found which is helpful in working cholesterol to some extent. Ramlal Lahre, a Chhattisgarh farmer and gold medalist in biotechnology, is making a special effort to make diabetes medicine from Chhattisgarhi chili 'Jaiya'. Whereas Ramal Lahre, a farmer from Surguja, has received National Award for his research on 'Jaiyya'. Ramlal hails from Mahuli, a small village in the Vadrafnagar development block of Balrampur district, while he is a post-graduate in biotechnology. He was given this honor by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, for the conservation and promotion of the rare and most pungent species of 'Jaiya' pepper, on March 3 at the National Science Fair, Delhi, by Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary.
