New Delhi: The line of mutual control (LAC) between India and China in eastern Ladakh has been under standoff for the past six months. The situation on the border was strained after the Chinese army came within 8 kilometres of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Pangong Tso. Meanwhile, China has now proposed to take back its army to Finger 8.
The proposal seeks to withdraw tanks and ammunition along with soldiers. This step is being taken to eliminate the possibility of any unwanted incident in this stressful region. The forces in Ladakh are also facing severe cold conditions these days. No agreement has yet been reached on this proposal. As per the information given in the media report, the proposal is still under consideration of the Indian side. The talks are also on in other tense areas.
The situation between India and China on the northern edge of Pangong is very serious. Both countries have collected thousands of troops, tanks and ammunition. The talks are currently underway in both the countries to repel and maintain peace in the area and efforts are being made to improve the situation.
