Chinese young tennis player Qinwen Zheng has blamed her menstruation for the loss at the French Open, saying she wished she was a man and she didn't have to face it. Qinwen Zheng suffered a 5-7(5), 6-0, 6-2 loss in her match against world number one Inga Sweetake. After the defeat, 19-year-old Zheng has said that he felt pain because of the 'girl problem' which has become the reason for his defeat. She has also expressed her dismay about women's struggle between menstruating.
He has said that this is only the problem of girls, you know. The first day is always so difficult, then I have to play and the first day I am often in so much pain. I cannot go against my nature. I wish I could be a man on court, I really wish I could be a man so I don't have to face it. This is difficult.
World ranked 74th Zheng had to take a medical timeout after 3-0 in the second set, during which she got her back massaged and came back with a bandage on her right thigh. She didn't get much help from treatment and went on to lose eight games in a row. She said that in the first set, I was concentrating on the game and I was not in much pain. After sometime I felt severe pain in my stomach. I wanted to fight him, I really wanted to fight, but I didn't have any more strength and the situation became very difficult. I am not happy with my performance at all.
