Jaipur: The District and Sessions Court of Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan has given orders to hand over about 56 kg of gold to the Central Government, in a case. In 1965, gold weighing around 56.86 kg was collected to weigh the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Which was handed over to the District Collector in view of the India-Pakistan war.

Meanwhile, this could not happen due to the mysterious death of the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent. At the time this gold was collected, it was valued at Rs 4.76 lakh. But in today's market, its value has been Rs 27.29 crore. The District and Sessions Court in Chittorgarh on Wednesday directed to hand over this gold to the Assistant Commissioner of Central Goods and Service Tax.

In late 1965, a dispute arose over the ownership of gold, when the District Collector of Chittorgarh was given to weigh. Since then, this case has been heard in different courts five times, and each time the decision has gone in favor of the government. Currently, the gold is lying in a cupboard in the Udaipur District Collector office.
