In the Corona era, the Central Information Commission (CIC) has suggested to register the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and itself with the Central Government's RTI Portal. Ordinary people will be able to file their applications online. In a statement, the CIC has said that it has started the process of taking pending appeals and complaints from the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State Information Commission. The State Information Commission has transferred them.

The Right to Information Act of Jammu and Kashmir has been replaced by the Right to Information Act 2005, so all pending appeals and complaints are being brought to the Central Information Commission.

Naveen Kumar Chaudhary has become the first IAS officer to get the domicile of Jammu and Kashmir. Chaudhary has been issued Domicile Certificate by Tehsildar Dr. Rohit Sharma of Bahu Tehsil of Jammu. Chaudhary currently holds the position of Principal Secretary in the Agriculture Production Department. Under the Jammu and Kashmir Domicile Act, citizens living for 15 years have the right to obtain this certificate.
