BENGALURU: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable, deployed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, shot himself dead with his INSAS service rifle. The incident took place on the airport premises on Monday morning.

The deceased constable was identified as Gayakwad Suresh belonged to D-company of the CISF unit deployed at the airport. Sources said that he reported to duty in the morning near Tower 7 and then shot himself.

Suresh didn't leave behind a suicide note. However, senior city police officers said Suresh had recently gone through a divorce, and personal reasons could be behind the suicide. The post-mortem report is awaited.

This is second similar nature of incident reported within a week as earlier on January 12, one CISF constable killed three senior colleagues and injured one in “deliberate” firing with his service rifle in Bihar’s Aurangabad district.
